As construction comes to a close and service begins in 2018, Union Station will serve to meet the high demand for rail service in downtown, replacing Raleigh’s currently outdated station. This modern facility will not only increase the rail transit routes from Raleigh to Charlotte but is also poised to be a transportation hub for buses and taxis. With new restaurant, retail, and office space set to open as part of the project, Union Station will offer downtown residents another area to visit, and the project overall will affirm the Warehouse District’s importance in downtown Raleigh’s growth.
